How Does Prochlorperazine Work?
Prochlorperazine blocks dopamine in the brain, preventing nausea signals from reaching the ‘vomiting centre’. As a result, feelings of nausea are reduced.
This medication is used to treat nausea caused by various conditions, including morning sickness (during pregnancy), vertigo, Meniere’s disease, travel sickness, migraines, and post-surgery sickness. It can also be used by people undergoing chemotherapy or taking medications that cause nausea.
